V.I. Warshawski has been starring in Sara Paretsky's detective novels since 1982. When Fire Sale was published in 2006, her role was to investigate her native South Chicago.
Sara Paretsky went to the London Book Fair in 2006 to promote the book, and record is given below:
Speaker at the Library of Congress (February 27, 2007), Sara Paretsky can be seen speaking about V.I. Warshawski for almost an hour, with a great amount of humor. At the beginning of her talk, she quoted Hilaire Belloc who once said, "though my sins be scarlett, may my books be read.":http://www.loc.gov/today/cyberlc/feature_wdesc.php?rec=4033
